About the Holiday Anime Faire

In 2006, Phuong-Mai Bui-Quang (aka P.M.B.Q.), founder of P.M.B.Q. Studios, had a crazy idea to create an all-ages, one-day event combining handmade crafts with anime shopping and anime education. As Halloween had just passed, it made sense to give this a try during the upcoming holiday season.

The City of Fremont and P.M.B.Q. Studios have been a successful partners with their past Manga Expo for Teens events, so it was only natural that they work together to bring the Holiday Anime Faire to life.

Thus, on December 9, 2006, the very first Holiday Anime Faire was born. We enjoyed 394 unique visitors for a fun-filled day of anime and crafts.

We're looking forward to more of the same for this year's event!

Why Anime & Manga?
Anime (ah-knee-may) is the Japanese word for animation. Manga (mon-gah)is the Japanese word for comics. The term "anime" has also often been used to refer to both animation and comics originating from Japan.

In recent years, anime has become more mainstream within American culture. Both the City of Fremont and P.M.B.Q. Studios would like to educate the public on the fact that anime can be for all ages, as well as the fact that it is more of a medium than an art style.
